"Who else will look out for me like I'm their tastiest bone?"
Smidge was meant to be my first foster dog, but from the moment she walked into my house, her vulnerability melted my heart and I knew I wanted her to be a part of our family. During the first week she was with us my daughter opened the front door to see where I was and Smidge darted out the door. It was my worst fear come true, but I called to her and her tail wagged wildly and she assumed her best play bow and waited right there in the front yard for me to get to her and then walked right back in the house happy to have found me. As insignificant as that situation may seem, it made me feel like she had chosen us as her family. I wanted to find her a better home with a better yard but in the end I figured if she was happy with us then that’s good enough for me!
I just can’t imagine how dull my day would be if I didn’t have that goofy smile to greet me. I’ve come to need her as much as she needs me and am thankful every day that she is a part of our family!
